Do you think it's appropriate for a 14 year old male to learn pole dancing?

Okay now I know this sounds a little crazy but I really want to do it. I mean I'm gay effeminate so it's not SO much of an out there idea. I guess it isn't really the gender I'm asking about, more the age since I know that parents would probably not let their 14 year old daughters pole dance. I don't really feel that's a problem here as MALE pole dancing probably wouldn't have the degrading connotations here, right? I've done contemporary pop and hip hop group activities and done the usual aerobics tapes. I'm thinking about trying something like those Carmen Electra pole dancing videos (not to into the typical "male" labelled pole dancing, it's too stiff and restrained; I want something that gyrates). What do you think: don't like the age thing, don't like the male thing or don't like both? Or maybe you just don't like pole dancing in general? Also I'm a far lefty (feminist, atheist, socialist) so I don't want any conservative answers about gender roles and God and abominations and etc.
