How do I play multiplayer on Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters?

When I select multiplayer from the menu, it just shows a spaceship flying through space. I've left it on for about half an hour and it keeps showing the spaceship? Do I need to unlock the multiplayer mode? Thanks in advance!
