Trying to trademark my company name, but seems someone filed for a trademark for a similar name. HELP!?

i've been using my business name in general for he last 5 years or so. i've been using while doing business just within the last two years. i hadn't filed for trademark so far because i just couldn't afford it. when i ran a search for my company name on the USPTO website, it came up with one trademark waiting on approval for a very similar name. it went up for public dispute on october 26th, and will be up for dispute for 30 days from that date. is there anything i can do to stop their petition for trademark from being approved? for instance, if i can prove that i've been using the name and doing business under the name for longer than the applicant on file, will i take the greater claim?
